Portfolio

My main focus is on the dancer. Dancer's are beautiful human beings with beautiful bodies. Any dancer that wants to make a career in the dance industry needs a strong crisp head shot along with a great body shot, either an action dance shot or a stand still. A head shot can speak for it self in many situations. if the dancer has brown hair she may be wrong for the part because the talent agency may need a blonde hair dancer. Or the action shot may show a modern dancer doing a leap but the talent agency needs a hip hop dancer and visa versa.

  1. Your use of light hrough out your portfolio is very strong, especially in the pictures of the older dancer. My favorite picture of the bunch is the second one from the bottom. Making the photo black and white was a good editing choice because it helps to focus the viewers eyes on the use of line. I like that the pictures of the little girl are less serious because it makes for a more believable photo.

  2. I really like the younger dancer photos. You really captured her personality and the black and white photographs really show attitude. The older dancer's photographs are really sophisticated. The use of light in the windows is very beautiful. The black and white photographs of the older dancer are very stunning.

  3. The black and white images are really strong in the series. There's great detail in the images, and the tones are fantastic. I feel some of the color images need slight color correction, but the composition is great. You've really captured their personalities.

  4. I really like how you capture her dance moves in the light, and I like the lighting of the sat and I also like how you seem to capture her movements at the right moment in these pictures.

  5. I like your portfolio a lot. I love the pictures of the older dancer the best. You really captured her grace and the strength the dancer has. I enjoy that you used a simple setting and simple clothing so you can focus on the lines her body makes a lot better. As an avid watcher of Dance Moms and anything dancing, I find your portfolio really neat.

  6. I love your portfolio! The black and white pictures I believe are your strongest. The background used for each picture is also very fitting, especially when looking at the pictures you took of Alyssa. The way both Mia and Alyssa are posed differently for each photo is also nice, suiting each one perfectly.

  7. I love the photos of Mia. There are sassy and charming. The only one that does not quite fit is the fourth one. It is a wonderful photo but, it feels like it could have been taken by anyone. The others you get a sense of who the little girl is and the what kind of spunk she has. The second reason is that in the other photos it is like she is playing dress up. The fourth photo you see a close up with her face, I miss seeing her dress up and have fun.

The photos of Alyssa are interesting but I am not as intrigued by them as I was by the ones of Mia. I would like to know more about who she is from these photos. She is a beautiful dancer but I would be interested in seeing something more unique. Maybe some more angles (one from above the dancer?), some different lightnings, and different costumes (like you did with Mia). The portrait of Alyssa against the brick wall is well done but I do not know how it relates to the other photos of her.

    Keep up the great work!
